Alberta’s energy sector just got a boost! A new agreement between the province and the Canadian Association of Energy Contractors (CAOEC) will significantly reduce the number of inspection stops for select oilfield service rigs at weigh stations.

Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen announced the news on June 5th, highlighting the positive impact on both safety and efficiency. The updated agreement allows qualified rigs to bypass multiple inspections, minimizing downtime and administrative hurdles.

“This agreement helps keep Alberta’s roads safe, while making it easier for oil well drilling service rigs to spend more time in the field and less time dealing with administrative burdens,” Dreeshen stated during a press conference. He emphasized the agreement’s role in strengthening the province’s energy sector and aligning with the government’s broader initiative to reduce red tape.
