Montreal Billionaire’s Sex Charges Dropped Due to Illness

Montreal Billionaire Robert Miller Avoids Trial Due to Health Concerns

Charges against Montreal billionaire Robert Miller have been dropped. A Quebec Superior Court judge stayed the proceedings on Monday, following a motion by the defense. The Crown conceded that Miller, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, is too ill to stand trial on the 24 sex-related charges against him.

Miller, the founder of global electronics distributor Future Electronics, was initially arrested in May 2024, facing 21 sex charges involving 10 complainants. Three additional charges, alleging crimes between 1995 and 2000, were added in December. Many of the alleged offenses involved minors.

Miller’s legal team had requested a stay of proceedings in April, arguing that the 81-year-old was unfit to stand trial due to his health condition. This motion has now been granted, bringing an end to the legal proceedings against him.
