State Organs Documentary Defies Censorship, Premieres at Seoul Film Festival

The award-winning documentary, “State Organs,” successfully premiered at the Seoul Larkspur International Film Festival on May 30th, overcoming significant obstacles. The screening location was changed three times due to undisclosed external pressure, highlighting the sensitive nature of the film’s subject matter.

The film, a seven-year labor of love, meticulously details a harrowing government-run organ harvesting operation in China. The production team painstakingly gathered evidence and conducted interviews with the families of victims, creating a powerful and deeply moving testament to their suffering.

The Seoul Larkspur International Film Festival, known for its focus on justice, freedom, and human rights, chose “State Organs” as its opening film. This bold decision is even more significant given that the festival also featured other films exposing human rights abuses in China and North Korea, all reportedly facing intense pressure from unnamed sources during the selection process.

This successful screening is a testament to the resilience of filmmakers and festival organizers committed to exposing truth and advocating for human rights, even in the face of considerable adversity.
