Chinese Billionaire’s Land Purchase Near US Military Sparks National Security Concerns

A recent real estate transaction has ignited a firestorm of controversy and raised serious national security questions. A 23-acre industrial property in Nashua, New Hampshire, was purchased in January by China’s largest bottled water company, a business owned by one of the nation’s wealthiest billionaires.

The property’s location, in close proximity to several US defense facilities, is the source of the growing unease. Specifically, its adjacency to L3Harris, a major defense contractor, has prompted concerns among lawmakers and citizens alike.

Adding fuel to the fire, New Hampshire’s Second District congressional candidate, Lily Tang Williams, recently visited the site at 80 Northwest Boulevard in Nashua to highlight these potential risks. In a video posted to her YouTube channel, Williams expressed her concern, stating, “I just want to increase awareness. L3Harris, a defense contractor, is just right here across the street. We get upset when balloons fly over, but now they’re here, they are in my backyard, in New Hampshire. Please, somebody investigate this.”

The proximity of this Chinese-owned property to sensitive defense installations has sparked calls for a thorough investigation into the potential national security implications of this land purchase. The situation underscores the increasing scrutiny surrounding foreign investment near strategically important locations within the United States.
