DOGE’s Credit Card Crackdown: Over 610,000 Federal Cards Cancelled!

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is making waves in its ongoing efforts to streamline federal spending. In a recent update, DOGE announced the cancellation of over 610,000 unused or unneeded federal credit cards—a significant achievement just 14 weeks into a program launched earlier this year.

This impressive number follows an initial discovery of approximately 4.6 million agency credit cards. The program has expanded to encompass 55 agencies, demonstrating DOGE’s commitment to comprehensive reform. A previous report in late May revealed the deactivation of around 523,000 cards; this latest announcement showcases the accelerating pace of the initiative.

The cost-cutting measures extend beyond credit cards. In a separate announcement, DOGE highlighted that the General Services Administration (GSA) and the Small Business Administration (SBA) have successfully eliminated thousands of unused phone plans and subscriptions within the past month. This concerted effort demonstrates a commitment to efficient resource management across various government sectors.

This proactive approach to federal spending signals a significant shift towards greater transparency and accountability within government agencies. The ongoing success of the DOGE initiative is promising, indicating potential for substantial long-term savings and improved efficiency for American taxpayers.
