Massive $200 Billion LNG Deal: US and Japan Forge Energy Partnership

The United States and Japan have cemented a major energy partnership, with U.S. companies finalizing agreements to supply Japan’s JERA Co. Inc. with up to 5.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually.

This monumental deal, announced by the Department of the Interior (DOI), involves four 20-year contracts. According to S&P Global analysis, these agreements are projected to generate over $200 billion for the U.S. GDP and support more than 50,000 American jobs.

The DOI statement highlights the deal’s significance in furthering President Trump’s initiative to boost American LNG production. It underscores the crucial role the U.S. LNG industry plays in strengthening the national economy and enhancing global energy security. This substantial investment signifies a major step forward in strengthening the energy ties between the United States and Japan, promising economic growth and energy stability for both nations.
