SEIU California President Charged with Obstructing ICE Raid in LA

David Huerta, President of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) of California, faces criminal charges for allegedly obstructing a recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in Los Angeles. The U.S. government alleges Huerta conspired with others to hinder an ICE raid targeting businesses suspected of employing undocumented immigrants.

The incident reportedly occurred on June 6th. According to the criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Huerta is accused of revealing the location of the ICE operation to fellow protesters. Furthermore, the complaint states that Huerta physically blocked an ICE vehicle by sitting in front of it and actively encouraged others to do the same.

This case raises significant questions about the intersection of labor activism and immigration enforcement. The charges against Huerta are serious and could have substantial implications for future protests and union activities. The details of the alleged conspiracy and the ensuing actions remain under investigation. Further updates will be provided as the legal proceedings unfold.
