Serbia Freezes Arms Exports Amidst Russia’s Ukraine Accusations

In a significant development, Serbia has announced a complete halt to arms and ammunition exports. This decision follows accusations from Russia alleging that Serbian-made weapons were being funneled to Ukraine, albeit indirectly through third-party intermediaries.

President Aleksandar Vučić confirmed the export suspension, stating that all shipments have been immediately stopped. He emphasized the need for careful consideration and specific decisions before any future exports are permitted. The future direction of Serbia’s arms export policy will be determined based on the nation’s best interests, with key government bodies fully briefed on the situation.

Serbia’s defense ministry issued a formal statement echoing the president’s remarks, officially announcing the suspension of all exports of domestically produced weapons and military equipment. This decisive action underscores the gravity of the situation and Serbia’s commitment to managing the delicate geopolitical landscape.
