The Senate Judiciary Committee kicked off the confirmation process for President Donald Trump’s latest judicial nominees on June 5th. This follows the confirmation of over 200 of Trump’s judicial picks during his first term.

The hearings, held in Washington D.C., began with questioning of five nominees. Leading the pack was Whitney Hermandorfer, a notable figure having served as a clerk to Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Samuel Alito, and Amy Coney Barrett.

Republican senators voiced strong support for Hermandorfer, highlighting her qualifications for a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) described the 37-year-old Hermandorfer as “uniquely impressive,” emphasizing her experience clerking for the aforementioned Supreme Court Justices.
