CDC’s ACIP Overhaul: A Deep Dive into the New Immunization Advisory Committee

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) held a crucial two-day meeting on June 25th and 26th, 2025, at CDC headquarters in Atlanta. This meeting held significant weight, coming on the heels of a complete restructuring of the committee.

Following Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s announcement on June 9th of a clean sweep of the ACIP, aimed at restoring public trust in vaccine science, all 17 sitting members were replaced with eight new experts. This dramatic change sparked considerable interest and raised questions about the future direction of vaccine recommendations.

The meeting, which commenced at 8 a.m. ET on Day 1 and concluded around 1 p.m. ET on Day 2, brought together leading medical and public health professionals to deliberate on the safety, efficacy, and clinical necessity of various vaccines. The discussions and decisions made during this pivotal meeting will undoubtedly shape vaccine policies and public health strategies for years to come. Keep an eye out for updates following the release of the official meeting minutes and summaries.
