Ford Mustang Mach-E Recall: 200,000 SUVs Affected by Door Latch Glitch

Ford is recalling nearly 200,000 Mustang Mach-E electric SUVs due to a serious safety concern. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a notice detailing the issue affecting 2021-2025 model years.

The problem lies with the electronic door latches. If the battery charge falls below 8.4 volts, the doors may remain locked after the driver or front passenger exits and closes the door. This poses a significant risk, particularly to children or passengers in the back seats who may be unable to use the interior door releases.

Ford emphasizes that this issue could potentially trap occupants, highlighting the risk of those who might be unable to operate the internal door release mechanisms, such as young children.

A total of 197,432 vehicles are included in this recall. Ford is urging owners of affected Mustang Mach-Es to contact their local dealerships for repairs to ensure the safety of all passengers.
