The FBI’s Los Angeles field office made a significant arrest Thursday, taking into custody Alejandro Theodoro Orellana. Orellana faces charges of “Conspiracy to Commit Civil Disorders,” stemming from his alleged distribution of face shields to suspected rioters on June 10th.
U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, Bill Essayli, announced the arrest on social media, stating, “We are moving quickly to identify and arrest those involved in organizing and/or supporting civil disorder in Los Angeles.” The announcement included a link to Fox 11 Los Angeles footage showing Orellana apparently handing out a box of “Bionic Shield” branded face protection.
These face shields, readily available on Amazon for $30-$55, boast features such as built-in chin protection, extended head coverage, and protection against impacts, chemical splashes, and airborne debris. The arrest highlights the FBI’s proactive approach to identifying and apprehending individuals suspected of facilitating civil unrest.
