Tragedy on the North Shore: Airmedic Helicopter Crash Claims Three Lives

The heartbreaking search for three individuals missing after a devastating Airmedic helicopter crash in Quebec’s North Shore concluded late Wednesday night. Quebec provincial police divers discovered the bodies of the two crew members and a patient in Lake Watshishou, a remote lake situated approximately 1,000 kilometers northeast of Montreal.

Airmedic, the Montreal-based medical transport company operating the helicopter, released a statement at around 10 p.m. Wednesday confirming the grim discovery. The statement conveyed the profound sorrow felt by the entire Airmedic team, marking the beginning of a period of remembrance for the three individuals who perished.

“This confirmation has deeply moved our team,” the statement read. “A time of remembrance begins for the Airmedic family. We will take the time to pay tribute to them and honour their commitment. They lost their lives while attempting a rescue—a gesture that reflects their passion, their vision, and the meaning they gave to their profession.”

The details surrounding the crash remain under investigation, but the loss of life serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risks involved in emergency medical services. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this incredibly difficult time.
